Kinetic Typography

ki·net·ic: Of, relating to, or produced by motion.

While playing the new Call of Duty game (World at War), I was very impressed how the game introduced the user to each game stage. The design used a lot of kinetic movement with images and the typography.

So I have been doing a little bit of research into kinetic typography and how it has been used in design. The video above is what I consider one of the best examples I have seen on the net so far, and when I get a chance I will be giving it ago myself.

If you have seen any other work which is similar please drop me a comment as I would love to see more examples.

Coca Cola Or Pepsi

It’s the age old battle between these heavy weights.

Coca Cola Vs Pepsi. It’s an old and tough debate!

It's a simple question, Coca Cola or Pepsi? Which do you think is the best?

New Footy Boots at last!

Check out these bobby dazzlers!

A pair of my new white Nike 90s football boots.

Okay so I thought it was about timethat I spent some of my Christmas gift money and invest in some new boots. I suppose it was time to get rid of the old boots (which only have 3 studs left in them!) still might rip out those studs and use them for firm ground instead.

These new boots cost me only £22 from JJB, so it seems that there are positives to the credit crunch after all.

MAG!...must get PS3!

okay, so based on this video I'm warming to the PS3

So as many of my mates know, I am a defender of the Xbox 360. I always believed that it was the better console out of the two heavy weights, that and the PS3.

Well based on looking into the game MAG (Massive Action Game) over the past couple of nights my mind is swaying! Thanks to Frog for linking me to this video, I am now seeking what can the Xbox offer up to counter this massive (forgive the pun) game! You can have upto 256 people fighting it out on one server! Anyway check out the video and you will see what I mean, maybe Microsoft and Bungie will answer back with a huge 512 player Halo game...(it could happen!)

A trip to Newquay in 2009?

Nothing better than attempting to stay on a board!

Me surfing in Newquay

So it’s been a little while since my last trip to Newquay, next summer it will be 3 years! Although next summer I am going to attempt to organise a long weekend, surfing down around the coast. If you fancy coming along let me know in Jan/Feb 09 so we have an idea on numbers (This post is aimed at actual people I know, rather than the whole internet community!)

New Website and Direction

Bringing the focus back to Website Design and Development.

Me

Finally I have completed the new version of Pixel Artists; it took longer than expected fitting it around other projects I was working on. I have been my own worst critic when it comes to the design and layout of this website and this is either the 4th or 5th incarnation of the site that you see before you, I’m just hoping the users find it has high usability and informative.

The purpose of this new site is to be a place that I can write tutorials not only for you guys but also for myself to reference to from time to time…oh and to promote myself a little bit to the web community out there.

So feel free to browse around and comment on anything, but observe that I do have certain rules about offensive language, this is suppose to be a resource after all for all age groups.

Thanks, Tim

Red Dwarf is Back in 2009!

4 New Episodes in coming next year - awesome!

Mr Flibble is very happy

Yes it’s true! Red Dwarf is coming back. After seeing the news article posted on the official Red Dwarf website (www.reddwarf.co.uk), it looks all set now to see the return of the show in the form of 4 special episodes in 2009.

The Sci-Fi show’s last appearance was back in 1999 (9 years ago!) with Series VIII. Many people I have since spoken to say that the last series was the worst out of the eight. I suppose I tend I agree with that, as most of the older episodes are absolute classics, but still series VII has some shining moments. For instance ‘Krytie TV’ has to be in my top 5 Red Dwarf episodes.

Since finding out about the return of Red Dwarf I have been…well overly excited with the thought of more Dwarf and since finding out, I have been spreading the word to as many people as possible!

A little about me

Creative Owner, Tim Baker pictured.

First and foremost my passion is website design and development and it has been my passion for over 10 years now. I always try remain up-to-date with the latest news, trends and functionality that the modern internet has to offer.

All the sites I do I handcode in Xhtml and CSS and I take great pride in my website development. I always try to ensure I stick to web standards and apply accessibilty and usability thinking to all my work.

I also enjoy general programming in java, which I am attempting to do more as of late.

Outside the world of computers and development, I love my football (huge Chelsea fan) and play most weekends. On the topic of fitness I also enjoy to play badminton, hit the gym and surf, though due to a busy life, it has been a while since I have been on a board!

So there you go, thats a brief insight into the life of Tim. I hope you enjoy/find my blog useful and do feel free to drop a comment (coz it makes me feel popular).
